Tribute to Dianna Moylan, July 2025

11th Aug 2025

We were deeply saddened to hear of the recent death of Dianna Moylan. We pass on our sincere condolences to her family and friends.

Dianna was one of our very first public contributors, working with us before we had a formal public involvement programme. Her open, honest and positive approach has been a welcome support over the past five years.

A stickler for grammar and, as a former teacher, Dianna knew it was important that when communicating complex messages to public audiences we had to strive to use plain English and explain our points in a clear and concise manner.

For the last three years, Dianna’s primary role with us was a member of our Data Access Public Review Panel. She reviewed lay summaries, public involvement plans and assessed if applications to access the data were in the public good. Dianna wouldn’t hesitate to point out where details were missed or summaries weren’t lay enough for the average reader and would make welcome suggestions as to how to improve readability.

Dianna’s most recent work with us was, unsurprisingly, sharing her experience for the benefit of others. She attended a UK LLC Citizen Panel meeting where she talked about her role as a public contributor, what motivated her to be involved and what she got out of it.

We admired Dianna, are thankful to have known her and will greatly miss her presence.
