Steve shares his thoughts as part of our series of reflections from some of our Citizen Panel members on the second workshop held recently at the Edinburgh Futures Institute, Edinburgh.
The series also includes contributions from Lidis (Citizen Panel Lead), Farheen and Sarah.
‘Public Good?’ I hear you ask: we all had ideas about what this meant… across our meetings the exploration of this brought fascinating dialogue as an eclectic group of individuals began a journey, developing a community of exploration, discovery and enlightenment.
Usability: those meetings, emails, reviews and discussions have resulted in accessible findings for the future.
Brainstorming across Zoom, across the miles, across the room was fascinating, informative and progressive. It sure was a chance for all of us to appreciate our own learning styles.
Lidis and team: what can we say? Beautifully facilitated, communicated and administered at all stages of the project from everything to do with travel, papers for meetings to even an artist in the room for our meetings! And of course the food!!
Inclusivity: what struck me most was the passion of all in the meetings, everyone from all walks of life with the most amazing perspectives on the subject in hand.
Community: this grew with each meeting as we took time to listen to each other, to reflect and progress.
Growing challenges, growing together and growing up and outwards.
Overview: we had a great opportunity throughout to see the mechanics of university life, to see the drive to bring lasting impact and change: something that got my juices going!
Order, there was to our range of thoughts and expressions evolved across the months. The skills of the facilitators helped us marry up all the findings and points.
Destiny or legacy … now what is the future? We have deposited something in the atmosphere and on the land which we are sure will be a stepping stone for us to take the big step.
