Lay Summary

Better treatments mean more people survive cancer. But many survivors still have problems. They feel tired, suffer, and are worried. These issues affect their daily life. Recovery is not fairly distributed. People with less help often struggle the most. This means those with less income or no stable home. They end up with worse health outcomes. It is not fully known why these life differences affect UK survivors. This study has two goals. First, we will check how a person’s income and social life affect their health after cancer. Second, we will see if the damage from long-term stress explains their poorer recovery. To learn this, we use a large UK survey. We mix it with their official hospital records. This links their life circumstances to their health history
